Overview

Sherpa Village trekking is a famous trekking route of Nepal, and it an ideal trekking destination. Sherpa itself resembles the mountains, high Himalayas and Everest regions. The word Sherpa is the surname of the local people, which in Tibetan comes from Shar Pa, which mean east and Pa means people.

Sherpas first settled in Solukhumbu and gradually spread to the west-land through the salt trade route. The nomadic people Sherpa gave rise to the main four clans: Munyagpa, Thimi, Sertawel, and Chawa. The data of 1968 shows that Sherpa migrated from Kham region in Eastern Tibet to Nepal within the last 300-400 years.

Sherpas are also regarded as elite mountaineers. All Sherpas belong to Nyingma, the ancient school of Tibetan Buddhism founded Padmasambhava, who is also known as the Guru Rimpoche. Most of Sherpa people speak Nepali, the national language of Nepal; however, they have their own dialects, which is from the Tibetan language.
