Overview

Mera peak is the easy but highest trekking peaks of Nepal. Which is situated in Makalu Barun National Park in Khumbu Himalayan Range. Makalu Barun National Park is inhabitant of endangered animals as well as the highest mountains peaks: Mt. Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Cho-Oyu (8201 m), and Makalu (8464 m).

When we hierarchizing the peak of Nepal, Mera peak comes under the “Technical Peak”. Therefore, itinerary of Mera Peak is designed professionally with acclimatization and spare days. This peak requires some mountaineering experience, physical fitness and knowledge/ idea about what are ice axe, crampons, harness etc. In base camp of Mera peak our professional climbing guide will give a short lecture about using the climbing equipment, technical part of climbing, which encourage climbing.

After the scenic flight to Lukla, you will head to Chutok La Pass. By passing the Chutok La the trails navigates to the rivers and suspension bridge, village and stupas. The continuous trail passes through the blue pine forest, rhododendron trees and descends to meadowland and finally reached at Mera Peak base camp. The stunning views of above 7000m mountains will see from the base camp.

Itinerary

Welcome to Nepal! We will receive you the airport and transport you to hotel.

An Apex  Asia Holidays representative will organize a small pre-trip meeting at the hotel lobby before commencing the day trip. Please bring a copy of your passport, travel insurance document and three passport-size photos.

Then we head off for sightseeing of the Kathmandu Valley. You will visit three main places: Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most revered temples for Hindus. Every year thousands of pilgrims visit the temple from different countries. Bouddhanath is located in the outskirts of Kathmandu city and is a holy Buddhist monument. Meeting monks, learning about Buddhism and stupa dome is the main attractions of Bouddhanath. Finally, Bhaktapur Durbar Square large premises of ancient house and temples is a settlement of local ethnicity called Newars. Fifty-five-window Palace, golden temple, pottery house are definitely worth a visit in the tour.

After the tour, we head back to Thamel, where our guide will help you with checking gears required for the trek. There are plenty of trekking shops in Thamel, so you can rent or purchase if you’ve missed anything to bring.

Early morning get up and prepare for the trek. After having breakfast in the hotel, the trek guide will meet you and take you to the airport to fly to Lukla. The 35 minutes scenic flight takes you the Tenzing-Hillary airport. Upon your arrival, the guide will introduce the porters/staffs of your trekking and heads to Chutol (2800m), which takes three hours walking from Lukla.

We cross Kari La pass, after which the trail goes along mountainsides through the Khari Khola valley and reach Pangkongma.

After having delicious breakfast in camp, we start walking on rocky and barren landscapes, which gives stunning views of mountain summits, and the wooded region below the trail and finally reached Kurke.

Today the trail leads to Tangnag via Hinku Valley through summer grassland. The continuous trail between Kusum Kangaru (6369m) and the west top of Mera Peak.

Today is the main goal of the trek. Wake up very early and the guide will check the weather condition and once he gives green signal then trip will start to summit. Afterward spending few hours you will descend to Basecamp and take lunch and rest for few hours and the back to Khare.

Important Trip Info

In Nepal, there are two kinds of transport, public and private. We mostly recommend you to use the private than the public because the roads two ways that make traffic, and the private vehicle can avoid the traffic by choosing the proper time for less traffic.

Most of the activities in Nepal is in the high Himalaya. Where you can to think about the very quality of accommodation. The mountain lodge/ tea houses are least facilitate with neat and clean. However, in the cities, there are multiple options to chose the hotel from general guesthouse to a five-star hotel.

In Nepal, you will get the extensive food menu. From the international food menu to local foods. Dal Bhat is the main course of Nepal. Your guide will help you to choose the suitable food, on the trek and tour.

Trekking is the popular trekking ventures in Nepal, which is always in the High Himalaya and where we have the chance to get altitude sickness. So, it is highly recommended to learn more about the High Altitude Sickness before you start the trek. Hurry can be deadly in Nepal Himalaya. Walk slow, and give enough time to your body to fit in the high altitude. Drinking more water and stepping slowly with rest is the best protection against altitude sickness.

It is necessary to have travel insurance before you embark on any trip. The insurance policy should include the cost of medical expenses, any damage or loss of your luggage, and cancellation.
