Overview

Our journey begins with a 7hr drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. Langtang Valley is also known as Tamang Heritage Trail. The valley of Langtang is narrow and sandwiched between high Himalayas of the north side and lower snowcapped peaks of the south.

In addition, the sparkling views of mountains over the head and tumbling melody of rivers inside the rhododendron and bamboo forest make you forget the tiredness of hiking. Panoramic views of mountains; Langtang Lirung (7246m) and Tserko Ri makes the journey joyful.

Tamangs are an ethnic group of Langtang, they migrated from Tibet. So their religion, language, and costume are still similar to Tibetan culture. The trail mostly leads to such Tamang villages with lush green forest. Kyanjin village is also popularly known as Kyanjin Gompa. In Kyanjin you will get an opportunity to experience the spiritual lifestyle of Buddhism. There is a manual cheese factory at Kyanjin Gompa.

The journey of Langtang National Park allows sightings of wild monkeys, some birds including the national bird Danphe. While the trek is not strenuous, it is not easy either, requiring some level of fitness. A week’s trek to Langtang is a stunning journey and an opportunity to immerse in Tamang culture.
