Overview

Everest Panorama is a trek that goes up to the viewpoint of Tengboche Monastery from where you can see panoramic views of Khumbu mountains. It is a week-long trek of Everest region but gives an essence of the grandeur of the Himalayas. We take a short scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, and follow the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa to begin the trek.

Leaving the tiny touristic town Lukla to get to Phakding is at a relaxed pace and a perfect prelude of the trek. Initially, the trail goes along the banks of Dudh Koshi river, and requires several crossing over suspension bridges and a steep climb to reach Namche. It is the largest town in the Everest region. Historical museums of first Mt. Everest submitter Mr. Tenzing Norgey and Sir Edmund Hillary, Sherpa culture and costume, world’s highest airport Syanboche, Khumjung village, a big and oldest sherpa settlement are the main attractions to visit.

Tengboche is a hill station, home to the largest monastery in Everest area. This is the only manmade building that can seen from the top of Everest by the human eye. From Tengboche, we can see wide and deep panorama of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Tawache, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Ama Dablam etc.

Everest Panorama is one of the shortest but a worthwhile trekking in Everest. It offers awe-inspiring views in a short amount of time, covering major mountains, monasteries, gompas. mani walls, Sherpa village, markets and so forth.
