Head out of Kathmandu to Pokhara and spend the Christmas in Lakeside, Pokhara, where you will embrace the festivities and city of Pokhara’s flair. Celebrate the incredible festival Christmas and New Year with the taste of Himalaya, complete with beautiful sunrise views from Poon Hill.

Itinerary

Welcome to Nepal! We will receive you the airport and transport you to hotel.

Accommodation: Hotel


After your breakfast we meet at the hotel lobby for a quick pre-trip briefing. You will be introduced to your guide and we provide some general information about the tour. Please bring a copy of your travel insurance document and three passport-size photos.

After the meeting, we begin the tour. Please ensure that you have packed all your essential clothings and gear as necessary as we will be sleeping overnight in Nagarkot.

The places we go for sightseeing today include:

Pashupatinath Temple: One of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world, which is the opulently decorated pagoda. It is a temple of Lord Shiva and his Linga (Phallic Symbol of Lord). Legend has it that the temple was constructed in 400AD. You will be able to witness cremation of the deceased and holy baths that devotees take in the river Bagmati. Pashupatinath is next to a small protected forest, so you will likely encounter monkeys, deers and other animals.

Bouddhanath Stupa: The giant dome monument of Buddha is located on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu city. It is a sacred pilgrim destination of Buddhists and draws folks in thousands every day for prayers. The Stupa is 36 meters high and presents a captivating specimen of Stupa design.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square: The palace square is a collection of Shikhara- and Pagoda-style temples and 55-windows palace made of brick and wood. The main attraction of Bhaktapur is the Lions Gate, Golden Gate, Statue of King Bhupatindra Malla and art galleries among others. After completing the tour, we drive to Nagarkot.

This is a quite an exciting day for trekkers because after breakfast, we reach the bus station for a drive to the scenic lakeside city of Pokhara. The drive is about 7 hours and goes through scenic countryside of central Nepal. We stop for lunch at Gunadi at around 11:30am, and reach Pokhara in another 2 hours. Pokhara is a holiday city, and looking at the lakes, hills and mountains, it is no wonder why it is so well known. Wide panorama of Annapurna range is clearly visible from the city, most notably Machhapuchare (Fishtail mountain) that prominently overlooks Pokhara. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu also tower above.

After 1.5 hour drive from Pokhara, you reach Nayapul then short trek through the bank of the river of Modi Khola to get to Birethanti, a large village with teahouses and shops. When you reach Ramghai, we stop for lunch. After lunch, the trails continue to the north along the banks of Bhurungdi Khola. Then steadily up the trails we head to the north to reach Tikhehdunga, at an altitude of 1570m. We stop here for the day and check into a guesthouse.

After a steep climb to Ulleri at the start of the day, the most difficult part of the trek will be behind us. Ulleri is a large village of Magar ethnic group that lies at an altitude of 2070m. Now the walking path gradually ascends from the point to Banthanti through the oaks and rhododendrons forest. Banthati is a place for lunch where you reach in 3.5 hrs from Tikhedhunga. Trail heads up to Ghorepani (2840m) via Nangethanti (2460).

Get up early in the wee hours of the morning to hike up to Poon Hill (3210m). The stunning sunrise view over the mountains is really worth all the effort and waking up early. After spending about an hour on the hill, we head to Tadapani. The first climb takes us to Deurali, which boasts amazing views of Ghorepani against a backdrop of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, we start heading down to Tadapani, with some uphills and downhills along the way through dense forests.

From Tadapani the trail descends through forests to Ghandruk, a village of Gurung people, one of the ethnic groups of Nepal. They have their own dialect, culture, costume, and lifestyle. Ghandruk is also home to many Gurkha soldiers. It is a famous destination for trekkers as it is known for its beautiful mountain views and also because its within easy reach from Pokhara and Kathmandu. You have the afternoon to visit the Annapurna Conservation Office, museums and explore the village.

Start to Finish Elevation Change: 2610m (Tadapani) to 1940m (Ghandruk)

Trekking down towards Nayapul we encounter more beautiful views of Himalaya, valley, waterfalls, and reach the bank of Modi river at Syauli, which is the lunch place. The views of farmlands and villages are exceptional. Trail joins at Birethati and continues to Nayapul, from where we drive to beautiful city Pokhara. Enjoy the evening.

Happy New Year 2018! Today you will have a fabulous day tour and evening in Pokhara with festivities taking place here. The beautiful evening is for the New Year’s Eve.

After a memorable trek and celebration of New Year’s in Pokhara, we bid farewell to Pokhara. On a 7hr drive, we get back to Kathmandu. You have the option to extend your trip to continue onto Chitwan jungle safari, rafting adventure, Kathmandu valley shopping tour, scenic Everest flight, mountain biking and other activities. You can get more information in our Activities Page. In the evening you will be served a farewell dinner in typical Nepali Restaurant with Nepali folk music and dance. It is also the time of reviewing the trip with your guide.

In Nepal, there are two kinds of transport, public and private. We mostly recommend you to use the private than the public because the roads two ways that make traffic, and the private vehicle can avoid the traffic by choosing the proper time for less traffic.

Most of the activities in Nepal is in the high Himalaya. Where you can to think about the very quality of accommodation. The mountain lodge/ tea houses are least facilitate with neat and clean. However, in the cities, there are multiple options to chose the hotel from general guesthouse to a five-star hotel.

In Nepal, you will get the extensive food menu. From the international food menu to local foods. Dal Bhat is the main course of Nepal. Your guide will help you to choose the suitable food, on the trek and tour.

Trekking is the popular trekking ventures in Nepal, which is always in the High Himalaya and where we have the chance to get altitude sickness. So, it is highly recommended to learn more about the High Altitude Sickness before you start the trek. Hurry can be deadly in Nepal Himalaya. Walk slow, and give enough time to your body to fit in the high altitude. Drinking more water and stepping slowly with rest is the best protection against altitude sickness.

It is necessary to have travel insurance before you embark on any trip. The insurance policy should include the cost of medical expenses, any damage or loss of your luggage, and cancellation.
