Itinerary

The Druk Air, a national airline of Bhutan takes you to Paro. You can immediately feel the cool, clean and fresh air of Bhutan when you step out from the plane. Afterward clearing Visa control and customs you will be welcomed by our airport representative, and transferred to the hotel in Thimpu after an hour’s drive.

After having breakfast in the hotel, we leave for the day tour around Thimpu. First, you will stop at Bhutan’s National Bank to exchange currency, then you will visit the National Memorial Chorten, which was built in 1974 on the memory of 3rd King. Next to visit is the National Museum, National Library, where you can see ancient manuscripts, the Textile Museum and art-crafts school.

Today you travel to Punakha, a beautiful destination of Bhutan. On way to Punakha across the Dochu La Pass (3050 m); that gives panoramic views of Himalayas. Road under the forest of pine and cedar festooned with hanging lichen high up near the Dochu La Pass. After crossing the pass you drive to Lobusa and take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang Temple. It is believed that the Goddess bless women for fertility. The next is Punakha Dzong, which was built in 1637 AD between two rivers Phochu and Mochu. After finishing the tour you will drive back to Thimpu.

After breakfast in the hotel, you will travel back to Paro. You visit Rimpung Dzong, on the way down you cross the cantilever bridge, which was made in the 16th Century. And also you will visit Drgyel Dzong victory fortress, built in 1647 A D. In the clear day you can see the Mt. Jomlahari. In the late afternoon of the day, you will visit farmhouses and lifestyle of traditional Bhutanese people.

Today you will hike up to the Taktsang Monastery a dramatic Tiger Nest built in 1600; incredible monastery grips to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900m. According to the history, a Guru called Padma Sambhava landed here on the back of flying tiger to meditate. He had meditated there for three months and established Buddhism.
